Happy Mardi Gras! I made a great DIY Mardi Gras centerpiece last year, and decided to follow it up with a Mardi Gras frame/wreath. Even though I don’t live even remotely close to New Orleans, Mardi Gras is a great holiday for me because I love the Mardi Gras colors so much. You can’t go wrong with purple, green, and gold!
Before we get to the Mardi Gras crafts though, what is Mardi Gras? Mardi Gras, which translates to “Fat Tuesday” in French, actually dates back to Medieval Europe. It is traditionally a day of eating rich, fatty foods before the 40 days of Lent. Hmmmm, sounds like I need some cake!
But lets get to the Mardi Gras frame. I went a little overboard when I went to buy Mardi Gras craft supplies (luckily I got all the Mardi Gras beads from the dollar store!).
Yes, Diet Coke is an essential tool in all of my crafting projects. I took the frame and covered it in the Mardi Gras beads. It turned out so cool-looking!
You could use this DIY Mardi Gras frame to frame pretty much any sort of Mardi Gras decoration, or maybe even a cute Mardi Gras printable! As for me, I actually decided to make it into a Mardi Gras wreath, and I hung it on my door!

at (11 years ago)No way! what a great idea to glue string beads to a frame! So much easier than gluing them on one-by-one and so perfect for Mardi Gras!!
Great thinking, girl!! 🙂
