Alright, so I just have to get this out there and apologize right now for the quality of the photos in this post. I took them with my cell phone, and I may have been drinking wine, and well, you know… Anyway, you may have figured out that I went to another “wine and paint” event. Seriously, these things are my favorite! You get to be creative, and paint, and drink wine – what more could you want?
The original painting, i.e. the model for the rest of us painters, is above. I think they called it “curly tree” or “crazy tree” or something to that effect, but I believe it’s actually based on Gustav Klimt’s “Tree of Life.” (I totally love Klimt, BTW.)
So we started with an aqua-bluish base for the sky and a sandy ground. You can also see there are some subtle little swirlies on the background.
Next was the tree and all of its swirly branches. This part was so fun! I kinda just went swirl crazy. I was like, “SWIRL, you gonna get put on this tree.”
Last but not least, I added some purple (of course) shading to the actual tree trunk and branches, some “earth” coloring to the sand, and then added all of the fun little dots.
I had so much fun doing this painting, but unfortunately, I have to stop going to these wine and painting events for a while. Because I have no more room for all my paintings!! But don’t worry, I’m going to be working more on some original creations this year, and I will be sharing them on the blog along the way!
