I went to a “wine and art” type class and instead of everyone painting the same picture, the theme was “paint your pooch.”Here is the original picture of my pug dog Petey:
We were supposed to send our pictures to the man running the class prior to the actual day of the class so he could sketch all of our dogs on the canvases. I was a little nervous because I’ve tried drawing pictures of pug dogs before, and they’re pretty hard to draw with all their wrinkles and smashed up faces. So I started with the following pug dog sketch:
We started by doing the outlines and then painting the backgrounds. The original picture was Petey sitting on our black sofa, but I wanted something purple. Purple’s my favorite color so, why not have some purple pug art?
For his “mask” I used a very dark grey – almost black – but light enough that you could see the black detailing.
Petey’s a fawn pug, so I filled in his body with a very light tan color.I then finished off the painting with some light blue accents on the eyes and around his mouth. My pug painting turned out pretty fabulous if I do say so myself. Next up is a painting of my black pug Roscoe!
