It’s no secret: I love owls and I love Halloween. I saw an owl on Pinterest that I really liked from Lincoln Street blog. You can see it in her post here, but I’m not sure if she actually made it. I had no idea where she got it from, so I determined I would make one of my own.
I looked high and low for an owl that was big enough to paint all the details on. I actually bought two off of Etsy, but they were a lot smaller than I anticipated. I finally found this owl on my very first trip to Hobby Lobby.
Have you ever been to Hobby Lobby? As my mother-in-law says, it’s like “Michael’s on steroids.” It’s huge. The nearest one to us is almost an hour away, so it was a special treat for my husband to take me there. I won a $25 gift card to Hobby Lobby, and I was determined to spend the whole thing and more… But then I got inside, and I was so overwhelmed. I didn’t even know where to start.
But back to my Halloween owl. It’s not the spitting image of the one I found on Pinterest. For one thing I think mine is much bigger. But I like it and I had a lot of fun making it. Usually I just spray paint everything, so it was fun to actually use the acrylic paints and brush and get down and dirty with the owl. Okay, that sounds weird. But you know what I mean, right?
This was my last Halloween craft before October 31, and probably the one I had been looking forward to doing the most. Enjoy!
