Valentine’s Day Crafts: Mixed Media Art

Mixed-Media-Valentine-1

Happy Valentine’s Day! I love making Valentine’s Day crafts, and this year I made some mixed media art. It may look kind of complicated, but this was actually one of the most easy valentine crafts I’ve made.

For this Valentine’s Day craft I started with a little metal sign that I got at Michael’s a while ago. It has kind of a rough drawing of a heart with some worn typed writing in the background. I don’t think I would ever put it up on the wall as is, just because it’s so plain. I’m not sure if I had something planned for it when I bought it, but I think I must have gotten it on clearance and just figured I would do SOMETHING with it.

I wanted to add a lot of different textures and materials, so I pulled out all of my craft supplies (I have a lot of them!) and started to go through all of them.

The Valentine’s Day bunting on the top was a pre-made item that I also got at Michael’s. I’m like, 99% positive that it’s from Martha Stewart crafts. Actually, come to think of it, I think all of this stuff is either from Michael’s or Joann Fabrics. The bird is actually part of a napkin from Joann Fabrics last year that I cut out and glued onto a burlap square.

I cut out the burlap heart and then taped the square that it was cut out from with red and white striped washi tape, then I added a cute key on top.

I had so much fun making this mixed media Valentine’s Day craft. I thought about putting it up in my house with the rest of my Valentine’s Day decorations, but I already have so many!

I decided to put this piece up in my Etsy store. You can purchase it now, and it would make a very unique Valentine’s Day card or Valentine’s Day decor in your home. There are a lot of different Valentine’s ideas that you could do with this!
