Hey everybody, thanks for visiting my DIY crafts blog.
I work in marketing by day, and I blog at night and on the weekends. I have a beautiful toddler (who loves to get into everything!) and I like pretty much anything the color purple, owl stuff, Hello Kitty, and all succulents/cacti (cactuses?).
I’ve always loved cooking and crafting. Starting at a very young age, my mom would help me make arts and crafts at home and in Girl Scouts. My interest continued through to high school, when I used to make intricate collages for my binders and book covers. I went to an arts and communications college, where my love of crafting continued to grow. After I graduated, I wanted to share my love of all things crafty and DIY, so I created this website.
My grandmother was an excellent cook and baker. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with her, and she taught me everything I know about cooking and baking today! I wanted to include my love of the culinary arts on my website, which is why you will see many recipes alongside my DIY and crafts projects.
What is this website all about?
The DIY Mama blog focuses on DIY projects, crafts, and recipes.
Types of DIY projects you might see include: refurbishing old furniture, building new furniture, repurposing common household items, and more!
Types of crafts you might see include: holiday craft projects, decoupage, painting ideas, sewing, home decor projects, scrapbooking, etc.
Types of recipes you might see include: new recipes I have created, old family recipes, me trying out recipes from Pinterest, oh and bacon… lots and lots of bacon.
Who/what is Purple Patch DIY/Sarah SaturDIY?
Purple Patch DIY and Sarah SaturDIY were previous incarnations of this blog. But I decided that as a mother that focuses a lot on DIY projects and crafts that I can do with my daughter, the name DIY Mama was much more appropriate. However, you might still find content from my old URLs on the new site, watermarks on photos, etc. Don’t worry, you’re still on theDIYmamaBlog.com – these are just throwbacks to my early blogging days #TBT.

A notification email would be greatly appreciated too!

at (9 years ago)Question about July 4th dessert – do you need to put lemon juice on bananas to keep them from turning brown.???
Looks great and easy. Thanks
Sarah
at (9 years ago)Hi, Pat! I generally don’t have much time between when I cut the bananas and when the bananas get eaten! But you CAN lightly spray your bananas with lemon juice to prevent browning.

at (8 years ago)As you can see I love Purple, too. When people buy me presents now, they usually look for anything Purple and it is sure to be a hit with me. Even little things like baking implements, placemats, plastic storage containers, etc. I even buy my facial tissues in purple boxes. However,I do draw the line at painting my house purple or buying a purple car.

at (8 years ago)I do know someone who has a purple house, and even though I am not a purple lover (sorry!), I have to say it is just so pretty!
