DIY Hippo Herb Planter

I love fresh basil. I love putting it in anything I’m cooking, sandwiches, heck, I think I’d even eat it plain for a snack. But I’m terrible at keeping it alive. I cut the opening in the hippo watering can a bit bigger and drilled some holes in the bottom for drainage.

Next, I filled the hippo (isn’t he cute? I named him Henry!) 1/3 of the way home with the potting mix. I spread the roots of the basil and put them inside of Henry Hippo. This is more of an outdoor activity, but if you’re doing it in the house like I was, I suggest you do it in the sink (or a bathtub maybe).

I filled the planter the rest of the way with the potting mix, I watered my basil, and I let it drain. It was so fast and easy to make my basil planter.
