DIY Chandelier Painting

Chandelier-PaintingI’ve been really wanting a chandelier for a while now…but in an apartment that you rent (as opposed to own) that’s kind of silly. So I just painted one instead!

I went to a class called “Wine and Canvas” where you choose the night and location you go to by painting, and then you learn how to paint which ever painting you’ve chosen. I had so much fun!

Basically, you go to the bar or restaurant where they’re holding it and you can order a drink and food or wine (hence the “wine and canvas”) and then they have the original painting along with a blank canvas that the teacher is painting on. All the materials are provided and then you just go to town painting.

This is what the original painting looks like:

I’m not gonna lie…I kind of like mine better. I just wish I had taken some photos along the way of painting it. I’m a messy painter though, so my camera would have been covered in paint by the end. I put my “DIY chandelier” up over our TV in the living room, and it totally classes up the place, lol. But really, it looks great on the wall, and it was much faster, easier, and cheaper than making or buying a real chandelier.

There are Wine and Canvas classes in 14 different cities in seven different states, so there just might be one near you! If so, I totally recommend you go to one – even if you’ve never painted before. I’ve never painted before but they made it very easy to understand and the steps very easy to follow. Even my husband said he was surprised at how good my painting looked. (I wasn’t offended seeing as how I’ve never even expressed the desire to paint before.)

I bought two vouchers for the class using a groupon-type deal, so I still have one left and I can’t wait to go again!

I have seen what people have painted in those classes and they didn’t paint anything near as cool as the chandelier. Maybe because I just love chandeliers. I wish I could find the class to paint it! It is so neat! Glad you had fun!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your painting turned out lovely! And good choice to not take photos while you painted. I’m sure paint would have been all over your camera just like I get flour all over mine. lol
